Foam examines portrayals of religious fanaticism through a deceptively simple action. In the video, four Iraqi boys carefully shave foam from black balloons. The moment the balloon’s surface is breached, it bursts violently.
This sudden rupture mirrors the logic of extremism—where identity becomes so rigid and pressurized that even minor contact triggers destruction. The balloons function as stand-ins for lives shaped by radicalization, revealing how fragility and violence coexist beneath controlled appearances.
