Scratched Vision toys with the viewer’s perception: is the light source the most prominent part of the work or is it the black painterly streaks that are trying to blot out the light? An optical game that subtly forays into questions of presence and absence, and takes its visual cue from the burnt palm trees in Iraq after the American invasion.
