The Revolt – (Chapter II)
Saline Lands is a one-channel video that leads viewers on a spectral journey through the remnants of a site haunted by the memory of the final battle between the Zanj and their oppressors. The camera follows a pair of broken, crudely sculpted toy legs as they wander through a desolate salt landscape, an environment steeped in stillness, erasure, and unresolved history.
This ghostly passage invites viewers to imagine what the historical record cannot fully capture. As the fragmented legs move across the terrain, they evoke the absent bodies, forgotten struggles, and silenced voices that rarely surface in official accounts.
