Faded Memories – series (2024)

Rescuing from oblivion the fragments of my childhood in Iraq —moments shaped by war, uncertainty, and the fragile escapes of imagination.
In these airbrushed paintings, I return to scenes that stayed with me, yet I replace the figures with muted pool floats: unicorns, sea creatures, and inflatable forms that echo traces of a child’s world.
Through these works, I reflect on how the mind protects itself—how childhood transforms fear into symbols of refuge, and how memory moves between tenderness and tension. What remains are scenes where innocence persists even in turbulent environments: echoes of a past both distant and deeply felt..
